Pick up your stride
There are four ETERNAL LIFE simple truths to help you resist the seductiveness of your generation that causes you to just float along and ignore the imminent coming of Jesus Christ. Romans 13:11
Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. The night is far gone, the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarrelling and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires. (ESV)
#1 THE SEASON OF THE LORD’S RETURN HAS ARRIVED! Watch vigilantly, it is the season to awake out of sleep, know the times and the seasons. We are so hypnotized by the rhythms of life we cannot see the workings of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We live as if this moment has NO bearing on Eternal Life. God predicts the future and the Bible records it. Agreed, ‘scoffers will come in the last days’ but we are not fooled. We do know what season it is! And to be in that right season, Christian friend, you now know that the day of your salvation is here, it is present.
#2 THE LIGHT THAT CASTS OFF THE DARKNESS IS YOUR FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD! Darkness is the absence of light. Where God is not honored there is no light. Not even a flicker of light. Scripture does not direct us to walk in twilight. There is no sun rising or sunsetting to enjoy. The sun of righteousness is continually full blaze. This is why Romans 13:11 can say, “go to war valiantly against sin, spiritually you can cast off, deliberately, enduringly, the works of darkness that harvest darkness. How again? You got the SOLAR beam from heaven working in and through you!
The next ETERNAL LIFE simple truth to help you resist the seductiveness of your generation that causes you to just float along and ignore the imminent coming of Jesus Christ is;
#3 THE STRIDE BY WHICH YOU MOVE FORWARD DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO GET MORPHED INTO YOUR CULTURE. The Apostle Paul posts a representative list of the bad traits of darkness. It includes both public and private sins. Why must he explain what sin is? For those who do get morphed into their godless, post Christian culture, they are asking questions about the wrong life because there is an ignorance of the right things. For example: What is wrong with a little porn? Why does God hate homosexuality? When does human life really begin? How can a church say there is only one way to God? When will Christians stop their over reach by making me feel bad about how I live my life?

Seek Jesus and nothing less. Jesus is the Rock which is higher than you and you will find shelter and comfort under his shadow. Jesus is the Light which is brighter than the affairs of this world and you will live under his nurturing power and hope. Jesus is the Embrace which provides you comfort and salvation when inevitable losses begin to mount in your world because of sin.
Ecclesiastes 12:9 Besides being wise, the Preacher also taught the people knowledge, weighing and studying and arranging many proverbs with great care. The Preacher sought to find words of delight, and uprightly he wrote words of truth. The words of the wise are like goads, and like nails firmly fixed are the collected sayings; they are given by one Shepherd. My son, beware of anything beyond these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh. The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.
